Vietnamese President To Lam commenced a four-day state visit to Singapore on May 28, with the primary goal of enhancing the bilateral cooperation and furthering the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that the two nations plan to establish by 2025. This visit is pivotal in reinforcing the ties between Vietnam and Singapore across various sectors.

During this visit, President Lam will engage in discussions with key Singaporean leaders, including President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. The conversations are anticipated to delve into strengthening economic relations, fostering investment, advancing technology cooperation, and enhancing regional collaboration.

A significant element of President Lam’s itinerary is his keynote address at the Shangri-La Dialogue, which will be his first major international speech outlining Vietnam’s foreign policy since he took office in April 2026. This address is expected to highlight Vietnam’s strategic priorities on the global stage.

The two countries are also committed to expanding their collaboration in fields such as science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation through the Vietnam-Singapore Tech Connect Initiative. Furthermore, both nations are progressing with the next phase of the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP 2.0), focusing on the integration of smart technologies, sustainable practices, and green development to lure high-value investments.
