Apple is set to bolster its production of semiconductors in the United States through a significant partnership with Broadcom. The tech giant has announced it will invest over $30 billion to manufacture more than 15 billion chips, a move aimed at strengthening domestic semiconductor production and enhancing its U.S. supply chain.

This substantial investment marks part of Apple’s larger ambition to develop a comprehensive U.S.-based chip ecosystem, spanning both the design and manufacturing sectors. The initiative is expected to generate hundreds of jobs and boost the production of sophisticated wireless technologies integral to Apple devices.

As a key element of this agreement, Broadcom will invest $1.5 billion to expand and modernize its Fort Collins, Colorado facility. This site will be dedicated to producing advanced radio frequency (RF) components, such as FBAR filters, which are critical for enhancing wireless performance and connectivity in Apple’s product line.

Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, emphasized that this partnership underscores the company’s enduring commitment to American manufacturing and innovation. He highlighted the importance of the advanced components that will be produced in Colorado in delivering the performance and wireless capabilities that Apple customers rely on. Cook also expressed pride in deepening Apple’s investment with U.S.-based suppliers that focus on advanced technology and high-quality manufacturing.

Hock Tan, CEO of Broadcom, expressed enthusiasm for the expanded partnership, noting that the company shares Apple’s dedication to bolstering American innovation and manufacturing. This new agreement is part of Apple’s broader $600 billion U.S. investment plan, which also includes efforts to expand manufacturing capacity, develop AI server facilities in Texas, and create additional high-skilled jobs nationwide.
